Sophie Beckers is particularly interested in legal issues concerning children. Her work focuses on proceedings relating to custody and visitation/access rights, including the alternation model (Wechselmodell). She also advises on adoption law issues, questions in connection with surrogacy and all issues relating to paternity – such as the recognition or contestation of paternity. Sophie Beckers is also highly committed to representing parents who are affected by return proceedings under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (HCCA).

She also advises and represents clients on financial issues such as child and spousal maintenance, equalisation of accrued gains and asset division.

Sophie Beckers studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn. After her first state examination, she completed her legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court district of Cologne with internships at a law firm specialising in family law and at the German Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.

She was admitted to the bar in 2019. Sophie Beckers has been working with Marie von Maydell within the department of family law at the law firm MEYER-KÖRING since 2020 and has been a specialist lawyer for family law since 2022.  In 2023, Sophie Beckers successfully completed her legal training as a mediator.

Sophie Beckers enjoys travelling, gardening, and cooking dinner together with friends and family. She regularly finds relaxation and balance through yoga and horseback riding.
